Using the built-in Google Maps
We have two neat-o maps on the site: one provides a view of changers, while the other provides a view of changes. If you're a registered user, you can add yourself and your changes to these maps pretty easily. Here's what you do:
TO ADD YOUR CHANGE TO THE MAP
When you're creating a change, scroll down in the page until you see the large map of the Vancouver area. Clicking anywhere on this map will set a latitude & longitude for your change in the fields below. You can continue to click in the map, resetting your point & zooming in with each successive click.
When you're satisfied, click submit & your change will automatically be added to our map. Yay! (Please note: when you preview your change, your little pinpoint icon will disappear. Don't worry -- your change will still get added to our map.)
TO ADD YOURSELF TO OUR MAP OF CHANGERS
You can add yourself to the map in your user profile area, which is accessible through the 'my changes' link in the user navigation block:
User Navigation Block
Once you get to your 'my changes' page, you'll notice that there are a few tabs at the top of the page: view, edit, my history, my subscriptions, and contact. Choose the 'edit' tab to change your user information:
Edit tab
Now that you're in the edit section, you'll notice a few headings underneath the main tabs: Account Settings, Personal Information, and Location Map. Click the 'Location Map' link.
Location Tab
Voila, it's the map!!
The Map!
Now that you've got the map, adding yourself is easy. Click anywhere on this map to set a latitude & longitude for your location in the fields below. You can continue to click in the map, resetting your point & zooming in with each successive click. Once you're satisfied, click 'Submit'.
Yay! Now go check it out! (Please note: when you visit this page in the future, your little pinpoint icon will disappear. Don't worry -- your personal location is still on the map.)
