I pledge to help the 260 housing co-ops in BC with over 14,000 households to find sources of funding to do green retrofits to reduce energy use and GHGs, and help make BC a world leader in environmental action from grassroots to business to government.

Natural and Holistic Pet Care

Written by el

What is holistic Pet Care?

Holistic pet care refers to caring for the "whole" pet. In other words, what is best for the whole pet? Too many doctors focus on just the specific problem at hand, trying to treat a specific problem rather than treat the whole pet or prevent disease.

Holistic care looks at the whole pet, including diet, nutritional supplements, preventive care, parasite control, grooming, and exercise. We don't overlook the whole pet and just focus in on one disease. Likewise, we don't neglect conventional therapies when they are indicated. If a pet needs surgery or a medication to get better, we can use these treatments. If the pet is better served with a complementary therapy, or a combination of conventional and complementary therapies, we take this approach. Holistic means being open-minded to what is in the best interest of the pet.

By combining both conventional therapies and complementary therapies such as acupuncture, herbal medicine, nutritional supplementation, and homeopathy, we can help the pet heal itself and stay healthy.

Getting information about holistic Pet Care?

Locating reliable information about holistic pet care is like looking for the proverbial needle in a haystack. I noticed that there was an extreme lack of information to help you in this, so I called on one of the leading holistic vets in the country, and we joined forces to bring you our new site, MercolaHealthyPets.com.

Who is this vet, and what can she do for you? Find out more … How to Optimize your Pet’s Health and Longetivity.

My family is disillusioned by the common North American lifestyle of rampant consumerism and wasteful energy consumption. Our long-term goal is to live off the grid, but in the meantime we have decided to life as simply and self-sustainably as possible in our current suburban surroundings.

No excuse for watering my lawn with tapwater. Not that I do that very much anyway but also for kiddy pools and bird baths in the summer.

To live waste free! A vancouver free store?

Written by whitedeer

Is there really need for garbage? Is it possible to live without producing waste?

I'm at a place where i recycle everything that can be... but i want to be in a place where i buy things according to whether or not the packaging can be recycled or reused. I live in an apartment now... so i don't know how i can do the compost thing... but i want to find out!!!

I want to make all my own bodycare products and household cleaning products (i know how!) and show others how to as well! This will reduce the use of chemicals in our community, and the amount of waste those products create.

i want to make an effort to buy all my clothes second hand... like i used to when i was young.

i want to start up a Vancouver free store! i just need the space to do it! A place where people can leave what they no longer need (in good condition), and take what they need. Books, clothing, appliances, furniture... what ever there is room for. an open space where people can freely go. Some volunteers to keep things organized and turn away genuine garbage and broken items.
A place where people are giving... and they know they are giving to the community! A place where people are not greedy, and only take what they need, knowing others are also in need!

Personal and global change!

Personally i hope 2009 is great year for me and my husband. Hopefully we will buy a home and start a family. I also want to find a fulfilling job that i will love going to every morning.

I am on the recycling committee at work and hope that i can continue to make a difference there! It's a good feeling knowing that you are helping make people more aware of their actions and what they can do to help make the world a better place!

Written by growharvesteatplay

A 5 year goal:
1. Invite others to grow harvest eat play (you're invited!)
2. Grow harvest eat play (organically) in my small space
3. Inspire others in my community (i.e. strata complex, 140+ units) to grow harvest eat play too
4. Inspire others in local community (many stratas - townhouse jungle) to grow harvest eat play
4. Create community garden
5. Include family, especially 2-year old son, in all of the above
