Learning a new skill, experiencing a new activity, broadening our awareness of ourselves, our community and our environment. These are things we should all strive for daily. Otherwise we stagnate. I encourage everyone to wake up each day looking forward to "new".
We have 13 kids working hard to raise funds so they can attend a working model at the United Nations headquarters in New York City. They are going to participate in a three day session with kids from all over the world. Can our community help? Yes, right now they have raised $3500. and their budget is $22,000. So they have a lot of work to do. These kids personify our community and with their experience at the UN they will come home with tools to help us all change. They need more money, they attend Roots and Wings Montessori school and host a weekly store with their own handmade goods. They cook and sell muffins too. They plan, cook and serve one hot meal for the entire school once a week. Can we get any help anywhere else? Money Ideas? I'll post the store hours and days. Any community members/business willing to donate money will get their name on our billboard right on 152 st and close to HWY 10. Help our kids make a change.
In a world where public and private investment in education is a growing challenge, there appears to be a major transformation underway.
Post-secondary education has traditionally focused on those aged 18-24 - but this cohort is shrinking. At the same time, the older adult population in Canada is estimated to reach up to 10 million by 2036.
For my part, I hope to advance the learning needs of this important group by raising awareness about the many health benefits of learning in later life. Growing older is no longer a time of decline and ill-health - it is a time where adults can finally engage in the many activities and joys that they couldn't participate in when they were younger.
Helping seniors discover lifelong learning is something we can all advance. Tell your friends, family, and colleagues about worthy programs in your community.

Compassion and Kindness is my passion. As an artist, I often come in touch with a lot of perspectives that heightens my awareness of my surroundings, society, people and other living beings. I like to help create a more compassionate and kinder community locally and internationally that is self-sustainable.
I am embracing social media as I slowly gain more experience with it. I am committed to applying my growing confidence in social media to my new online initiative www.greenthecityvancouver.com in order to give back, build community, and help shape our city's story as we move towards being the greenest city in the world by 2020.
Can we find a way to re-frame the meaning of a “good life” so that it is not the “good lie” that so much of media promotes these days? Join media visionaries to brainstorm, build bridges and sharpen your media and leadership skills.
Even though parrots are the third most popular pet in North America, few people realize the trauma these birds go through when they are trapped in the wild. It is still legal in Canada to import wild-caught parrots, and we are working towards putting an end to this through education.
this change is designed to re-frame our attempts at daily connection with the people we meet and spend time with. to go from 'how's it going' to 'what went well today?' we hope that people will create deeper connections with one another.
