Station Street Farmer Market a hit.

I went down to the Station Street Farmers Market to help publicize this new Wednesday location and to refresh my supply of local greens. In case you don't know, the market goes from 3pm to 7pm.

I always wonder what the first day of a new market will be like. It's a bit like inviting friends to a party and wondering if anyone is going to come!

become more involved

Royal Vancouver Yacht Club 3811 Point Grey Road. Wednesday May 16 - 6:30 - 8pm Refreshments served, admission by donation. British Columbians stopped oil tankers from travelling our waters 30 years ago, and we can do it again. Hear speakers from the Dogwood Initiative describe how oil tankers threaten local ecology and how they contribute to Canada’s increasing production of greenhouse gasses. This presentation will prime you on the risks oil tankers pose to our coast and the globe. More importantly, it will arm you with the tools to stop them. RSVP info@dogwoodinitiative.org For more info go to the Dogwood website

Get out of hibernation :)

Change topics:

So, here are some things I found in SharedVision to get out and do, especially for those of us who indicated at the meeting that we wanted to get out more:

There is an event called Green Drinks on April 18th at the Steamworks in Gastown. It starts at 5:45 and goes to whenever. The idea is that it is just a chance to meet and chat, socialize, connect with others who are passionate about environmental and sustainability issues . Go to greendrinksvancouver@yahoo.ca [well, email them] for more info. :)

Everywhere!

why in the world would entertainment giants like Viacom not want the free publicity of having their material virally marketed on Youtube? Vancouver blogger Kate Trgovac discusses this very topic here

I have a fear of flying. I always have and it sucks. By the time I leave an airport, I am usually so grateful to be coming away from the experience with my life that I never seem to even notice if there are annoying things about the way the airport is run. Jen, from Vancouver's Beyond Robson, however has more to say on the subject of YVR being a little under par.

Save the Fireworks Show!
Fireworks

The Vancouver summer Fireworks extravaganza will not run this year if they can't raise the funds. I think they need $1 million to do it. This is a wonderful event that brings peope together from all over the Lower Mainland. I am prepared to pledge $100. Would you like to join in? How about the company you work for? Ask your boss!I can ask Vancity to set up an account to collect the funds.let me know what you think and what you are prepared to pledge!
