Last year members of the Vancity Board of Directors made a bold move by proposing an increase in the annual remuneration provided to members who are elected to serve on the Board. There was heated discussion at the Annual General Meeting, but the proposal passed.
A Family Built with Vancity. Growing up, I watched my mother and father struggle with a new family. Both new in their careers, it was Vancity that gave them a mortgage to buy their first home. Since then, they have advanced in their careers, put myself through University, saw me off into my career, put my younger brothers through school, and built upon their home. Along the way, it was always Vancity that offered support, whether it be through RRSP, RESP, or investments, a line of credit, or community events that bring us all together.
I stand firm with Vancity, as a community credit union, amongst a world of other banks that are less friendly. We need our Vancity Credit Union.
Watching my family grow, through generations, and watching them prosper, is another one of the reasons that I am Excited to be running for the 2011 Elections to the Vancity Board of Directors. Thank you for your support,
Dave Cote
The first snow of 2010 came two days ago spreading across the Lower Mainland. Like many people, I was ecstatic to see the flurry whites. However, as happy as I can be, I am also reminded of many others who are currently homeless and houseless (as said by good o' George Carlin) who might have a lot more trouble this season if the predictions of a harsh winter come true - especially their feet.
Watching this video made me laugh, cry, swell up with appreciation for the beauty of the human heart and be extremely proud of my financial co-op, Vancity.
Engaging my coworkers in community activities across the lower mainland be they environmental or social stewardship. I want to unite my team in ways that benefit the local communities and make us feel empowered and inspired.
