Bring any mobile phone, battery or accessory, irrespective of carrier, into your local Telus store, and they'll plant a tree for FREE!
Starting next week I will be advertising drop-off locations around Nanaimo for broken and unwanted phones. Help my campaign to plant a new forest in BC this year!
For those of you reading this outside the Regional District of Nanaimo and inspired to lend your support by dropping off your old phones at a Telus location, please drop a comment that you did so and I will add your donation to the total count.
In a recent e-mail received, after signing a new contract with Telus Mobility, was a promotion for recycling unused and broken cellphones and accessories. For every one returned to Telus, the company plants a tree. The best part is, the phones could have been purchased anywhere - they don't have to be Telus phones!
I'm sorry that my last post also bashed TELUS a bit. I don't have a personal vendetta against TELUS -- it's just that they keep doing things that I feel I need to talk about.
February 21 edit: well, looks like Telus has officially stopped selling porn! A small victory? Perhaps!
This is a bit of a difficult issue because many people feel that it's just a matter of choice as to whether someone wants to view porn or not. What irks me most, however, is how Telus justifies its decision to sell porn. If they want to make money selling porn, then I suppose that's a good business decision (not that I support that decision...). After all, a recent news story is that Telus has tripled profits. But don't try and tell us that you're looking out for your customers.
