Vancouver-based Stand Up For Mental Health has been Nominated for a $100,000 Pepsi Refresh Grant. Our SMH Days on Campus Comedy Tour for 2011 plans to visit 25 universities and colleges in every province across Canada. We will perform for students, faculty, staff and the community at large.
Last Sunday night, a sold-out crowd at the Arts Club Granville Island Stage gave a rousing standing ovation to Stand Up For Mental Health'sClass of 2008, in their debut performance.
I remember spending most of Grade 2 standing in the corner, in Miss Carscadden's class. Was the adoring fall guy for the class comedian, Keith Fairley. My laughter at Keith's childish jokes really irritated the teacher, and always got a "your nuttier than a fruitcake" from Keith. It was burning shame and Nirvana both at once.
