Recycling aluminum cans is one of the easiest things to do (and best for our environment), but did you know every time your plane lands in Toronto Pearson Airport, none of the pop cans you consumed on the flight gets recycled? (so does all the other recyclable garbage) This is due to possible probability of cross-contamination of disease-carrying agent from one country to another.
The date has almost arrived! In two days I'll be kick-starting my year of re-use. I will blog about some of the things that I do to reuse and changes I make in my daily life to incorporate reusing. I'd love to hear some ways that other people are reusing?
Starting on April 18 (my 28th birthday) I am making a personal commitment to one year of reuse! This includes only purchasing items that are made of reused, reclaimed and/or recycled material (so mostly shopping at thrift stores when I need something). Attempting to reuse everything before throwing it in the garbage. This will hopefully lead to a lifetime of habitual reuse actions reducing my impact on the environment and reducing my overall consumption.
