In a recent e-mail received, after signing a new contract with Telus Mobility, was a promotion for recycling unused and broken cellphones and accessories. For every one returned to Telus, the company plants a tree. The best part is, the phones could have been purchased anywhere - they don't have to be Telus phones!
One of the great things about re-invention is that I get to re-connect with a lot of people I’ve enjoyed working with in the past. Yes, the current re-invention is driven by necessity: I need to find new ways to put more flow into my current cash stream. But that doesn’t mean I have to be a dull boy about it. Quite the opposite.
In less than 12 weeks, Matt and Steph will bring their incredible journey to a grand close almost one year to the date they left Vancouver, by running straight into EPIC 2009 and kicking off the event! EPIC will host our homecoming reception where we’ll meet and hold discussions with exhibitors, sponsors and visitors present.
Here was the environmental footprint of the Christmas card in 2005, according to the UK government:
One billion Christmas cards, weighing 20,000 tonnes and equivalent in volume to at least 20 Olympic sized swimming pools, will end up as waste this Christmas.
That's only the tip of the (rapidly melting) iceberg. Consider the energy involved in transporting those cards to a billion addresses – energy expended all the more inefficiently because postal services have to ramp up each year for a huge surge in mail, and then ramp back down again.
I realised today that I am encouraging people to check out this site, but that I haven't actually commited to posting anything on it. So - today's the day. I think I'll start off my activities by inviting all my friends to join this site.
So a short while back, I had posted about how I was going to try and do coffee differently... like using a travel mug instead of a paper cup. Less sugar. Yadda yadda and all those things. I felt pretty good. What I didn't expect was that it would spark a pretty intense and very well-worded train of comments. The people who commented, I thank all of you.
However, I have just one issue with a few of these comments.
i can hardly believe the time has passed unlike so much of my new life getting through this year couldn't be rushed the ebb and flow of each season just rolled through my life each with it's own set of distinctive memories i visited our cottage recently i stood in the yard until i was invited in to walk through the rooms I listened to fading echos the crunch of your tires on the gravel driveway the sounds of you calling from the front door, singing in the shower and laughing through the late hours until early morning. These days - I can' t think of you without smiling .
