I've finally done it. I've sold my car, the car I so proudly bought brand new, and for the last two months I've only been riding my bike or, rarely, catching the bus. Crazy thing, I don't even miss driving. I'm no longer going to pollute around when I can ride my wonderful little bike.
We've got a Pledge Ride coming up on May 31st around Vancouver, and it would be great to see you come out and ride in support of Global Agents for Change (www.globalafc.org). I recently encountered this ad while parusing one of my favorite newspapers. It shocked me, and I took the time to write a letter to both Chrysler Canada and the newspaper who printed it.
I will be riding an electric assisted Velomobile (enclosed recumbent bicycle) to work and for most errands to replace a car - I am making this change to show others what is possible without a car.
Biking to work from East Van to Gastown was much easier than I expected. And much flatter. I think though that my "new to Vancouver biking" newbie brain has to be trained in the ways of the major bike paths or the signs have to be improved.
