I would like to encourage support of our Youth, and Students in the Arts, particularly in Film and Media. Vancouver is termed "Hollywood North", and yet there is limited funding and support for initiatives in this area. Imagine if Kevin Smith, who produced "Clerks", and his blockbuster sequels, after dropping out of Vancouver Film School, had received some support that allowed him to keep his production local. Vancouver would have reaped the benefits, as would any supporter, with their logo on the film at the festivals.
It's good business, and good for our community.
This is not a mandate, but a hope, a dream..

The Emily Carr Electric Vehicle Project aims to design and build a battery powered electric vehicle capable of traveling anywhere in the Lower Mainland on a single charge.
I started Urban Project with the goal of raising money for youth living and working on the streets in some of the places I have traveled (and beyond).
I wanted to go beyond simply redistributing the money to engage these young people in creative projects that fit with their current interests and passions.
Urban Project is a non-profit society dedicated to promoting employment, education and safer living opportunities for disadvantaged youth in urban locations throughout the world.
As a vehicle for redistributing funds, our goal is to engage youth in artistic projects that are enriching and empowering experiences for everyone involved.
All funds raised are used to support one youth-focused project in a specific urban location.
In 2008/2009, Urban Project plans to partner with Giant Ant Media on a film and music making project in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

I am working on a book, a graphic memoir (comic), and it is taking me forever. i am so good at finding other things to do instead--working, cleaning the house, surfing the net, etc.
