organic dish washing powder(home made)

Written by shruthi legala

Hi,

I am one organic freak, so I wanted to clean my vessels with a dish washing liquid which does not contain sodium laureth sulphate. I could not get the ingredients of any dish washing liquid so decided to create one on my own. Help came in the form of my cook. She told me that in her village they clean the vessels using "Moong dal" and "Rice" powder. So I just asked her to powder the organic "dal" and "rice" and mix them together in equal proportions. I am using the powder from past one month and wow it's magical. Now I dont have to worry about the remnants of the liquid on my dishes which my family might have consumed unknowingly! Thanks to my cook.

Hi Shruthi,
What is dal powder? I have never heard of it.
And what is rice powder? I am guessing you do not mean flour, but I am not sure.

Do you think we can get them in Vancouver? I would like to try your recipe!

thanks,

Kate

Hi Kate,

Thank u for reading my article. Unpolished "Moong Dal" is called "green gram" in English, which is available in Indian stores. The non polished one is green in colour while the polished one is yellow. Yes by powder i mean the green gram flour. The rice flour and green gram flour are to be mixed together in equal quantity to be used for dish washing.
