Guidelines for changing everything
You've come here because you want to make a positive change in your life, your community or your world. We're here to help you make that happen, or at least give you a place to talk about it.
So here's how you can make the most of Change Everything, and what you can expect from us and from your neighbours in this online community.
An official no-spam zone. We'll never share your email address with anyone without your permission (unless we have to by law). Likewise, all Change Everything users are expected to refrain from spamming their fellow community members. (The upside to not getting to flog your fantastic herbal supplement franchise opportunity to everyone is that nobody is going to be flogging their fantastic herbal supplement franchise opportunity to you.)
Ad-free since 2006. We won't show pop-up ads or banner ads or otherwise intrude on your eyeballs with advertising, either from the site administrators or from members.
Make it real. We love our online community, but even we have to admit that, to really make a difference, change has to happen in the outside world. So think about taking action in the real world to realize the changes you are discussing on the site - and then let us know all about it!
Change for the better. We want this to be a community where you don't have to deal with personal attacks, hate speech, sexually explicit content, defamatory speech or threats. If you find that kind of offensive content on Change Everything, please let us know.
Change fairly. Everyone deserves to know what kind of change they’re signing on to. So if you’re editing a change you’ve created after other people have joined, please stay true to the original spirit of the wording.
Reuse and recycle. Under the Creative Commons Attribution Share Alike license, you have the right to share any text or images that you find on this site, and likewise you give everyone else the same right when you post text or images. You just have to attribute it to its original author and source, and let others republish or remix your version of our content on the same terms. (To acknowledge something you're using from this site, please include this information in your remix: the item author, original item URL, and the line "Originally posted on Change Everything.") The only exception may be occasional content where we've received special permission to republish something from another source; we'll be sure to mark any non-Creative Commons content with a big warning.
Love a troll. Participation on Change Everything should aim to encourage participation and conversation. That means no flaming and no personal attacks. And if someone else steps over the line, try to remember what your mom used to say: "I don't care who started it!" So turn the other cheek, rise above it, and treat the occasional flame as a misunderstanding.
Our playground is your playground. Whether you scream onto the site on a supersonic ADSL line or stroll in over dialup, we'll do all we can to let you play nicely with your fellow changemakers. If you're on a low-speed connection or using older hardware, and there's something on this site that's slowing you down, please let us know.
