The Changes

I would like to encourage support of our Youth, and Students in the Arts, particularly in Film and Media. Vancouver is termed "Hollywood North", and yet there is limited funding and support for initiatives in this area. Imagine if Kevin Smith, who produced "Clerks", and his blockbuster sequels, after dropping out of Vancouver Film School, had received some support that allowed him to keep his production local. Vancouver would have reaped the benefits, as would any supporter, with their logo on the film at the festivals.
It's good business, and good for our community.
This is not a mandate, but a hope, a dream..

Compassion and Kindness is my passion. As an artist, I often come in touch with a lot of perspectives that heightens my awareness of my surroundings, society, people and other living beings. I like to help create a more compassionate and kinder community locally and internationally that is self-sustainable.

Involving youth as volunteers / leaders in community life develops a habit community involvement. My neighbourhood is Sunset. The youth are awsome.

Bridging the Generation Gap Workshop:
This workshop is designed to bring elders and youth together to open dialogue on the issue of racism through which they come up with inter-generational ways of combating racism on a micro and macro scale. We aim to promote multiculturalism and diversity where we disolve common cultural stigmas.

The workshops are delivered by Elders from 411 Seniors Centre Society for youth ages 15-25. There are various locations throughout Vancouver in Richmond, East Van, Burnaby, and North Vancouver between November 2-10, so sign up now as there is limited space!

The Camas Infoshop is a not-for-profit and collectively-run infoshop, bookstore and autonomous space located on Lekwungen Territory in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. Camas first opened its doors in September 2007, with the intention of providing a voice for anti-authoritarian and anti-colonial perspectives and local struggles, and helping to foster a spirit of solidarity with other such struggles taking place globally.

Camas provides literature on topics including: anti-imperialism, indigenous peoples, black power, queer/trans, feminism, radical and local ecology, health and food security, DIY/self-sufficiency, and anarchism. Many of the books that Camas sells are donated from the community, and as a not-for-profit and volunteer-run project, all of the revenues generated from book sales are put towards keeping the space alive and thereby offering an active place for people to meet, organize projects, hold events or discussion groups, and to build non-hierarchical networks and communities of mutual aid, autonomous from state or corporate dependency.

Sprout is an e-course designed for aspiring social innovators and
environmental entrepreneurs who want to grow their project ideas and
learn to create lasting changes in their communities.

Youth have ideas it's getting people to listen. Sounds just like entrepreneurs. 25 youth have developed short term projects with measurable outcomes - now it's time to make it happen.
