A short time ago a forwarded email came to me asking if I knew anyone in need of help. There was a church group who wanted to help some of their fellow Abbotsfordians in getting on their feet and moving forward with their lives. Towards that end they had requested suggestions for people they could help.

So, as I mentioned in the change part of this site, [if the post worked] there is an event coming up on APRIL 18TH, beginning at 5:45 pm at Steamworks in Gastown called GREEN DRINKS. Apparently it is an opportunity to get out and socialize, network and exchange ideas with others who have green sensibilities [do we have green thumbs, or green souls?]

I hope !i will meet some changeeverything folks out there, since I have heard that some were particularly keen on hooking up with like-minded types.

You're right: banks don't have a stake in social networking. But Vancity isn't a bank; it's a community-based financial institution that is as interested in making our community work as it is in making money. And these days, community is more and more about what happens online, which is why we thought we could play a role in helping use the Net as a tool to support community development in the Lower Mainland and Victoria.
