Hi all,

I thought I'd post about a free event Vancity is hosting about Global Warming on Monday, September 25, 2006 at 7:30pm at the Italian Cultural Centre.

Join UBC Professor William Rees, PhD and author/consultant Guy Dauncey for an engaging and thought-provoking presentation on global warming and the behaviours behind the causes and solutions, and how we could completely eliminate the emissions causing climate change -- if only we wanted to.

Industrial Society Destroys Mind and Environment

Dear Group Members,

I want to share my article with you. This is about the link between Mind and Social / Environmental-Issues. The fast-paced, consumerist lifestyle of Industrial Society is causing exponential rise in psychological problems besides destroying the environment. All issues are interlinked. Our Minds cannot be peaceful when attention-spans are down to nanoseconds, microseconds and milliseconds. Our Minds cannot be peaceful if we destroy Nature.

create a greener world

I once overheard my friend Ruben tell someone who was complaining about dumpster divers that as long as we continue to throw away things of value, there will be dumpster divers. That it is partly our fault. Quite a neat way to frame the issue.

I wonder if there should be some way to leave potentially valuable items outside the garbage for those divers who actually perform a recycling service. Locked dumpsters, although I understand why they are locked, seem odd to me now.
