By recycling more, and by starting to compost organic waste, I can turn my waste into something useful, instead of contributing to landfills.

We want to compost-- but we don't have anywhere to keep a compost bucket, or anywhere to dump the contents of the bucket. We tried Bokashi, which is a fabulous system, except we don't have anywhere to bury the compost (Bokashi requires burying for a period of time). Our neighbourhood also has its share of rats.

Office compost bin

Paper and drink container recycling in the office is commonplace now. But what about plastic and food recycling?

Regarding food composting, I read this article about compost bins for the office, but where exactly do I get them?

My focus on composting and sustainability has led me to some interesting places on the ‘net. Lately, I’ve been looking for extra compost bins on Vancouver Craigslist.

Even dead batteries can be "composted"

Composting used batteries

Here's a photo of Mladin (rhymes with Alladin) at Kerrisdale dropping off a 3lb. bag of dead batteries to compost. The batteries are being picked up with an electric pickup (bad pun, huh?)

This is the electric pickup that runs on Revived Batteries, being put to good use.

Your support of the Solar Power Roadshow makes this possible.

I'm back on the wagon

Create personal Zero Waste

While I haven't been doing exceptionally well on keeping my waste down as much as I hoped, it has been on my mind lately. Sometimes I feel so inadequate compared to EnviroWoman's journey against plastic :( :)

Some recent events to report ...

My Braun hand mixture just died ... it's tough making my banana, frozen berry and protein shake without it, but it still tastes the same lumpy. So, the next step is to contact Braun to see if they have a method of recycling it. I don't have much hope, but at least my question will let them know that disposal of their products (and short lifetime) is an issue for people.
