One of the main reasons there are so many homeless is because of the lack of affordable housing, and housing that will actually allow them to rent there regardless of their appearance, which in the city is made to seem so important.  For example, if the person has stuttering, hygiene difficulties, or personality disorders, it is very unlikely they will find housing.  People who are different, such as the transgendered, are routinely descriminated against and are forced into high rental dirty disgusting single room only occupancies.  I have escaped this problem by buying a sailboat and staying at a marina which permits liveaboards in northern BC, but these liveaboard marinas are few, and often are as descriminating as housing on land.  I got lucky to find a community that would accept me.  It was an extremely long struggle.  I don't wish this on anyone.

Drug patents have kept AIDS drugs prohibitively expensive. I'd love to see patent laws (or drug companies) change so that AIDS drugs can get to everyone who need them.
