Sell my SUV - replace with fuel-efficient car

I'm still keen on this, but it's a difficult change to make. My Xterra is paid off and in great shape. Honestly, it's partly the hastle and effort of selling it that is holding me back, but also that the money I'd get for it wouldn't be enough to buy a similar quality used fuel-efficient car.

I've started thinking about just selling the Xterra and not replacing it with another vehicle. I take the bus-SkyTrain to work, but use my car for errands, visiting friends, snowboarding up at Blackcomb. Could I get by on Translink and renting a car for the snowboarding??? Something to look into.
