Enhancing Understanding and Value of Lifelong Learning for Seniors

In a world where public and private investment in education is a growing challenge, there appears to be a major transformation underway.

Post-secondary education has traditionally focused on those aged 18-24 - but this cohort is shrinking. At the same time, the older adult population in Canada is estimated to reach up to 10 million by 2036.

For my part, I hope to advance the learning needs of this important group by raising awareness about the many health benefits of learning in later life. Growing older is no longer a time of decline and ill-health - it is a time where adults can finally engage in the many activities and joys that they couldn't participate in when they were younger.

Helping seniors discover lifelong learning is something we can all advance. Tell your friends, family, and colleagues about worthy programs in your community.

The non-profit SFU Seniors Program offers intellectually stimulating courses and programs for adults 55 or better at the Harbour Centre campus in downtown Vancouver. For more information, I invite you to call me anytime at: 778.782.5212.
