change translink and transit

If  I could, I would change Translink as follows:

First, I would get rid of the zone boundaries. Then I would decrease the fares to $1.00 for local city buses, and 50 cents for the smaller, shuttle buses, and $1.75 for express buses.

I would change the fare box system, put in new boxes that could read electronically loaded cards. The cards could be loaded with any amount of money, and reloaded as needed. There would be no more monthly passes. There would also be no more transfers.

This would reduce costs [no more producing paper transfers and passes], and reduce litter.

I would un-arm transit police, andinstead give them better training in how to deal with people in a non-violent, non-agressive, non-threatening way.

I would change the Skytrain fares to a minimum fare, like 25 cents, which would increase by the number of stops one went, by about 20 cents per stop, to a maximum of $3.00.

I would add more buses, and have them running later, all through the Lower Mainland, to reduce the number of impaired drivers, and to improve tranist options for those who work late and/or early.

That's what I would do if I could.
