Will the rain stop me?
Thought I should check back to update this. I have walked to and from work almost every day for months now, and it's been great. I truly look forward to going to work in the morning and having some head-clearing, music-listening personal time. Same goes for the end of the work day, when I get a good brisk walk home.
I've lost some weight and feel healthy and energetic - all without having to go to the gym, which I don't care for (unless we could hook gyms up to the electric grid so we could harness that power for the better good). Otherwise, they just feel silly to me.
The odd time that I've had to SkyTrain home, it's been so packed and uncomfortable. Makes me wish I was down on the street walking.
The question is: Will I keep it up now that the weather is turning? It's been one of the most magnificant summers I can remember, and when it gets cold and rainy (especially rainy) will I wimp out? My hope is that I'll SkyTrain to work, to avoid spending my day in wet socks and pants, but walk home where I can change clothes. I guess it also depends on how nice the pants I'm wearing that day are.
Time will tell...

Since the new year I hadn't
Since the new year I hadn't been walking to work. Tired, getting over a cold, not in the rhythm yet. But last night I walked home in the freezing cold, and other than my ears rebelling from shock, it was a nice brisk walk. Walked to work this morning too. Good to be back in the swing of things.

gyms feel silly to me, too. I really enjoy walking to work - but I am a but apprehensive about winter...will I be as into the walk when the rain starts...???
