Walk to work.

I used to drive to work, and I hated it. Then I decided I would never drive to work again. It's not that I hate driving, but I hate commuting!

So I started taking the bus or SkyTrain. That was pretty good. But I live like 4km from work. I should walk. I knew this, but never did anything about it. Then one day I started walking. And I love it. I seriously love it.

It's healthy. It reminds me of a Billy Bragg lyric which goes something like: I don't like to go to gym in the morning, I keep fit by living my life.

I like that. Walking to work is a half hour twice a day that I am active and it's a part of my life. So that's nice.

Plus, I have great taste in music. You should know that. When people come over and we shuffle our music collection, people tell us that it's like listening to the best radio station ever. And they're right. Half an hour twice a day when I can just listen to my music. That's so great.

And then, maybe the most important thing, it feeds my feeling of community. We moved back to Vancouver from LA three years ago for very specific reasons - to set up a certian kind of lifestyle. Walking to work, living and working in the same community, that's what it's all about for me.

So here's a change I recently made and it's made me very, very happy.
