Hitting the Farmer's Markets
Now that summer is really here, I gotta change my behaviour and hit all the farmer's markets I can. If I can't eat locally in the summer in Vancouver, when the heck can I?

How was it? I've never gone.
I spent all my grocery money at the trout Lake one this weekend.
I got the best cherries and peas ever. I am going to take some of the seeds from the peas and dry them out to grow my own... maybe I'll be my own vendor next year!
I'm also considering getting a deep freezer to freeze all kinds of local organic berries to makes smoothies throughout the winter with. It is my new breakfast super food experiment.

Great (and timely) idea. I took the lazy route and (finally) did something i've been meaning to do for awhile - signed up to get a fresh produce box delivered biweekly from www.spud.ca. (although strolling a market on sunny day does sound nice!)

I've been using SPUD for a couple years. Generally, really great service. It has really helped me reorient the way I think about food (sorta like VC/CB does/could/should help us reorient the way we think about money??)

yay farmers markets! i am putting my basket on my bike and heading there now to stock up on food for the week (and maybe more plants for my own little backyard farm)
