This sounds ike a great idea.  I would join, but I will be moving to Calgary soon, so I will be unable to join.  However, you have given me a great idea to find a similar group in Calgary.

Some help would be great. What I would like help in is getting the word out to as many people as possible.
I'd like to get word into Shared Vision and Common Ground, as well as the Georgia Straight, and other newspapers that might host it in their 'what's up' type sections.
Let's see, I will come up with a start date within the next week and let everyone know, then we can start advertising it.

Not to hijack the issues you may want to discuss in the cafe, but I posted a topic that may tie into this and I would like to participate as well.  Politics tends to scare away people that don't "believe" in it or feel alientated from the process. Okay, so I am moving forward a little on this. I have chosen two possible places that I might like to approach in order to find a host location.

I am really keen on Mink, but I have to find out if they are open late enough. Another possibility is Take 5, on Hastings at Granville. They used to be open late, but I don't know if they still are.

I'd also like to consider Sacred Space and/or the Zodiac Club, but sadly they don't have the type of seating necessary.

But before I go any further, I am going to attend the Green Drinks night at Steamworks on the 19th of this month, to see if that is something that could be a regular thing. No sense competing with someone who is already doing a good job. :)

I will keep you 'posted' :) 

So, I have been attending the Green Drinks events, and enjoying them. I think that for now, this might be a venue where people can meet, and as I survey folks to see if a conversation cafe is something that they would like, I will certainly set it up. Still, I would really like some help organizing it, because I have a slightly busy schedule, as do we all, I am sure. So, if someone wanted to work together to get it going and keep it going, let me know privately.
