Everything

Try out Change Everything

I'm a little cynical of the unbridled optimism of websites like this becuase they just seem really self serving. "I want to run more"? Who cares. Just run more. We don't need to be updated on your progress. Or maybe we do, I don't know. Maybe my pessimism is just too strong, afterall, there a couple of really good ideas on here. For example, creating a community farm in the Westend of Vancouver? I've always wanted to do that. I'd want to change the economy so that it incorporated all the externalities that autisitic economics omits and create a commons similar to the Green Party platform of Genuine Progress in which a trust would be created that included the sky, the soil, water, arts and culture that everyone would pay into. The individuals and corporations that benefited the commons would recieve a dividends check, the polluters would have to pay more.
I's also like to change the media ownership laws in Canada. And the electoral system. And the way we trade. The way we build our cities. I'd build more social housing and treatment facilities. i'd change the way we farm. I'd change our policy towards the occupation of Palestine. I'd tax fast food. I'd label genetically engineered food. I'd make post-secondart education free.

One of the strengths of this

Written by Kate

One of the strengths of this site is that is provides a forum for people to make declarations about things they want to do and a place for other members of the community who are interested, to offer support.

If you are interested in the community farm, I highly recommend contacting that person about making that change happen. I would love to see you guys start talking about how to make that farm a reality.

Sean, contact me if you're interested in the urban farming idea--I'm looking for others who may be interested, and even if we're in different neighbourhoods we could share how-to knowledge (or is someone already doing this?).

Word. Yeah I live in East

Word. Yeah I live in East Van but there is a bunch here. I imagine the city of Vancouver would provide input, and a whole lot of red tape. there are numerous organisations that would be vital in preliminary plans. Farm Folk City Folk, smartgrowth.ca, urban farmer etc.

Re the chain icon: you have to highlight your text first, then the icon becomes available. Otherwise it's greyed out.
