I can pick up your donated clothes and blankets - Chapter 2
I have been contacted with details of another shelter that could use any and all donations. If there are still folks that have items that did not get picked up last time, I would be pleased to swing by and pick them up on Wednesday evening.
Email me ( phill_perry at hotmail dot com ) your address and contact number if you would like a pickup. Leaving tied bags outside your door with a "change everything" label means you don't have to alter your plans for the evening.
"Our shelter could definitely use some donations of winter stuff. Especially for men and teenagers. I don't know how you arrange it.
It's called Fraserside emergency shelter and the address is 1206 8th Avenue, New Westminster. The number is 604-525-3929."

Well....It has taken me a
Well....It has taken me a few days to get around to answering this one, so sorry for that. The short answer is there were no takers (or givers) for my offer. I have been thinking through reasons why this might be, but haven't really come up with too many. It may be that people are growing weary of requests for donations at this time of year when it seems to be on every radio and television station. I can completely understand that.
Maybe that is the lesson in all of this then. Giving is on people's minds at this time of year, and it feels good to contribute. I would like to resolve to make this a priority for myself throughout the year, when perhaps the issues and need are just as great, but not as visible or publicized.
I was just reading davidyates' post that highlighted that giving is not always as easy as it seems. I will continue to find ways to offer my resources to help people in need.
