SMH Days on Campus - SMH Brings It's Own Brand of Inspired Insanity to BC Campuses This Fall
SMH Days on BC Campuses
News Advisory August 31 2009
Stand Up For Mental Health (SMH) Brings its Own Brand of Inspired Insanity to BC Campuses this Fall. Stand Up For Mental Health is proud to bring SMH Days to the Campuses of UBC Vancouver (October 5), UFV (Chilliwack October 7, Abbotsford October 8 and Mission date to be announced) and UVIC, Victoria (October 21) during National Mental Illness Awareness Week (MIAW).
The SMH Comedy Troupe will perform live at lunchtime for Students, Faculty and Staff. There will also be a free Public performance in the evening on several campuses. Several Campuses are inviting local High School students to be their guests at lunchtime.
Stand Up For Mental Health is passionate about facilitating an open, frank, compassionate, inclusive and lively discussion about mental illness on Campus. We hope to make SMH Days an annual event that students plan, run and look forward to, in coordination with other Campus initiatives.
SMH is also pleased to become part of the 2010 2nd Year Medical School Program Curriculum at UBC, UVIC and UNBC. We will be helping students and those who teach them gain a greater understanding of and empathy for people with mental illness.
