Day by day things change
The babies are asleep, and it is the end of a beautiful day here on Pender Island. We thought we would head out here for the weekend and spend some quality time with Grampa. Today we set up a compost for him and set out some grass seed. It was warm and sunny all day!
I have been noticing that this community is trying to make changes too. Every establishment I go into has a sign posted on the door asking "Did you remember your cloth bag today?". I am so glad to see this, as you have to take all garbage off island. It makes it necessary to think and deal with your garbage in creative ways. There is a very busy recycling centre and a thriving consignmnet business. My sell to my father about the compost bin was "think of the money you'll save" it can cost up to $10 a large bag of garbage to be transported off the island. I think of these things in the abstract in the city, the building I live in has all the appropriate blue bins, and a trash compactor but composting is new to me.
So what does this have to do with my resolution and am I staying on track? Yes, for the most part I believe I am. Am I the best artist I can be?... I am trying, but I can always be better and coming to Pender Island is a place to explore ideas. Am I the best mummy I can be?... Probably, but I am learning too, and being a strong example for my babies and trying new things (such as sowing seed for the first time and trying to establish a compost bin) is the best way I know how. As for my third goal, excercising daily? Well not as much as I hoped, I think you always start off the new year with the best of intentions but because I am allowing more time for me I am being more active by default even if it isn't tradional excercise.
So that is where I am at right now. Day by day things change.
