Is Santa gonna upgrade your TV to an HDTV Flatscreen this Chrismas?
Is Santa gonna upgrade your TV to a fancy new HDTV Flatscreen this Christmas? And if so, are you wondering what to do with you current (used, but in great shape) telly that does not include it and the landfill becoming ONE? If so - then I have the perfect solution.
About 18 months ago I met a homeless guy who lived in my hood, and over time we became friends. We then began to work together to get him onto welfare and into a safe home of his own. On Friday (last week) this became a reality, and just in time too considering the weather we have had this past weekend. Now that he is safe, warm and dry, has a bed of his own and food in his cupboards, the real work begins.
Over the past 7 (plus years) he has spent a lot of time walking in order to stay warm and alert, and avoid being attacked or robbed. The result is that his feet, knees and legs are in pretty bad shape and so the best thing that he can do in the short term is to spend as much time resting as possible. He's not a big reader, and so a TV will be great company and entertainment for him inbetween my daily visits.
So - if Santa is gonna upgrade your telly this year - or if perhaps you've decided to "quit the tube" as one of your changes and would like to give your TV to someone who could really put it to good use - I'd love to hear from you. My e-mail address is

Yes - in the end my husband
Yes - in the end my husband and I bought him a TV and DVD player for Christmas. Not ideal cause we wanted to help someone do a bit of "recycling" - but every once in a while you just have to break the bank at Christmas. Also - I have everything I need (and then some) and so I decided that this gift would be in lieu of any presents for me. So I guess you could say I got the ultimate christmas gift - the joy of giving. The delight on his face was better than any gift I could ever dream of waking up to on Christmas morning.
Since then he's been borrowing DVD's from my collection which has given us a lot to laugh about every Sat. night when he comes over for dinner. Let's just say - my taste in chick flicks is not going very far with him. But with everything, there is a surprise and his all time fav. movie most certainly was a big surprise for me. Sound of Music - for REAL!
So really - when I think about it - it's not the TV or the DVD player - it's not even the movies. It's the friendship and the opportunity to share and to give to one another that's so important. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all ......
