Fair Trade, organic or local, that is the question
Often, I find myself torn apart with choices when deciding which is the most ethical, eco-friendly and/or healthy option when it comes to shopping for food and non-food products.
I always wonder whether I should buy food and products that support workers Third World countries by buying Fair trade. However, I have no idea whether those products were produced with the use of pesticides and additives... That's why sometimes I think it would then make sense to look for organic food... Having both becomes a little bit more challenging and pricier too... The ideal of course would be to both help the producers in the Third World and fulfill my lifestyle choice to eat healthy and additive/pesticide free food. Fortunately, many stored have increasingly number of food labeled organic and Fair trade. As for Fair Trade, I am currently using Fair trade, organic t-bags at home! Now comes another important question, should I buy Fairly Traded products from a third world country or should I buy local products?? Also, buying local mean less travel, therefore less use of gaz and production of pollution (carbon dioxide etc). However, if Fair Trade products is more expensive than regular, buying local can be even more heavy on the wallet... Decisions, decisions! baby heartbeat monitor best baby monitor
