There's climate change
There's climate change forums a go-go right now.
Re: the Inconvenient Truth, it is a great consciousness-raising tool. People have been saying what former VP (and would-be US President) Al Gore has been saying for years, but his popularity and name recognition - along with a well-made film - has made the message, if not also more frightenting, more palatable to a whole new audience. I think the bout of extreme weather in the past two or three years, in places not used to experiencing it (e.g. ice storms in Texas this week) hasn't hurt either.

Vancouver Fairview MLA
Vancouver Fairview MLA Gregor Robertson's climate change forum last night was packed - standing room only! - and incredibly, people came from all over the Lower Mainland for this. It was really exciting to be the same room with so many people who share a passion for the same changes.

Anyone interested in
Anyone interested in learning more/meeting other people who care about global warming and climate change should attend Gregor Robertson's public forum on climate change on Monday, January 15 at the Granville Island Hotel at 7 pm - 9 pm.
Also, the Sierra Club of BC (co-sponsored by Vancouver Public Library, where the people are cool and the co-sponsored events are free) will be screening several films on the environment - including an Inconvenient Truth - in late February at the Central Library, followed by panel discussions on this issues. These screenings have just been scheduled to so check back with VPL's events calendar at www.vpl.ca in a week or so, or call the Business and Economics Division at the Central Library, for more info in the days ahead, for specific scheduling info (dates, times).
