Why Krill Oil
What's KRILL OIL ?
Krill are shrimp-like crustaceans that are about 1 - 6 centimeters in size. They inhabit in the sea, where they feed primarily on phytoplankton.
Krill oil, the oil that's discovered naturally in krill, is taken out and marketed as a wellness supplement. It is marketed in many and wellness food shops and on-line in capsule form.
Another understanding why krill oil is getting recognised is because it carries an antioxidant known as astaxanthin. The algae that krill feed on produces the bright red pigment astaxanthin that causes krill and other crustaceans e.g. lobster and shrimp their reddish-pink color.
Antioxidants protect our body cells from harm by free radicals, toxic substances that are believed to add to certain prolonged illness. Unlike many other antioxidants, astaxanthin goes over the blood-brain barrier, where it could in theory protect the eye, brain and central nervous system from free radical impairment.
Why Do People Use Krill Oil ?
The anti-oxidant effectiveness of krill oil is such that when likened to fish oil in terms of ORAC (Oxygen radical absorptance capacity) numbers it was determined to be 48 times more powerful than fish oil.
The astaxanthin found in krill oil provides excellent protection against ultravoilet light and UV-induced skin impairment.
A number of studies have shown that krill oil is hugely effective in reducing LDL-cholesterol, increasing HDL-cholesterol, and reducing blood sugar. It has been shown to be effective in treating the pain and inflammation from rheumatoid arthritis and aches and pains as a whole. And it has been shown to be effective in the treatment of adult ADHD. The jury is out right now on if and to what degree there is a problem for those people allergic to shrimp. Until the jury is in, I would be careful in taking krill oil if I had a shrimp allergy.
The Antioxidant Potency of Krill Oil is 48 Times Higher than Fish Oil.
Antioxidants are your body's principal process to weaken free radicals -- those harmful metabolic spin-offs that harm cells and tissues throughout your body.
Scientific proof evidence has repeatedly demonstrated that antioxidants are a cornerstone in the promotion of heart health, enhancing your immune system, and memory support. They also appear to play a role in assisting to slow your signs of aging.
Although many foods contain antioxidants, today's poor-quality diets are nearly always insufficient in the full range of these beneficial free radical scavengers.
So when you deliberate that the anti-oxidant potency of krill oil is 48 times more potent than fish oil, well, choosing between the two is easy.
· Over 300 times the antioxidant strength of vitamin A and vitamin E
· Over 47 times the antioxidant effectiveness of lutein
· Over 34 times the antioxidant power of coenzyme Q-10
Pretty impressive, wouldn't you say?
To top it all off, krill oil also contains astaxanthin - a unique marine-source flavonoid - that produces a special bond with the EPA and DHA, which permits direct metabolism of the antioxidants, making them more bioavailable.
