Offsetting Air Travel

One big offender of CO2 emissions is air travel. There is a Vancouver organization associated with Climate Care that is trying to help individuals and companies offset the emissions produced when they travel: http://www.offsetters.com. Essentially, you can calculate the cost of the emissions produced by your travel to a destination, and through Offsetters fund things like supplying efficient heating, lighting and cooking systems to places that use inefficient ones.
Sounds like it would eat a big portion of your travel budget, right? Not really, according to Offsetters, one person's round trip flight from Vancouver to Paris produces 2.25 tonnes of CO2, the cost of offsetting that is $33.75 CAD!
