Dr. Lannie Kanevsky - an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Education at Simon Fraser University. She began her teaching career as an elementary
school educator, teaching in a 'regular' classroom, enrichment and other special education programs. Her first Masters degree in Special Education
(concentrating on gifted students) was completed in 1983 at San Diego State University. In 1988, she completed her doctorate at Teachers College,
Columbia University. Dr. Kanevsky's research focuses on understanding and responding to individual differences in student's potential to learn, with
a particular interest in the development of gifted children. She frequently works with students, educators and parents in their efforts to
create developmentally appropriate, challenging learning experiences for gifted students and is the author of the "Tool Kit for Curriculum Differentiation".
Dr. Kanevsky's presentation is entitled: Living Intensely Gifted individuals' feelings are often mystifying... and amplified so they experience events in their lives with greater intensity and sensitivity. These feelings are confusing and yet essential to their development.
Understanding them and accepting their role in personal growth provides powerful insights on the ways in which gifted individuals are similar to and different from others. Please RSVP for both the parents and children's program to joy Fai @
