weekly check in
The Rotary Club of Vancouver Quadra has joined with the Salvation
Army - Harbour Light and the BC Association of Podiatrists to hold "Downtown Eastside Foot Clinic".
Over four hundred street people were served in March, June &
September so far this year. Street people attending were able to wash
their feet, obtain a new pair of socks and receive a re-conditioned
pair of running shoes. Read about the latest event and how you can get
involved.

Are you guys ready for your winter challenge? A few years ago we did
something here called ‘Got Hats’. Some of you will remember it, for
those who don’t or just for a recap of that heartwarming event, please
check out this CE success story.
I'm thinking we can make something great happen this year and The
Servants of Hope Society might be how we make it happen. They are
having their 3rd Annual Downtown Eastside Outreach at 6:30pm December
20, 2008. Their goal is to feed the homeless at Christmas in Pigeon
Park. They are looking for donations of socks, gloves, scarves, toques,
sweats, bottled water, bananas, coffee, soda, sweets and hot meals to
feed more than 300.
Please contact me if you have a donation to make. You'll be hearing a lot more from me on this front in the coming weeks....
