week in review
This week marked the last hand off in the Vancity BikeShare experiment. If you have one, now is the time to find someone and pass it on. There are people out there who would love a turn in the experiment. Like this guy and you can find more listings of people who want to participate by clicking here.
And we'd really appreciate the opportunity to read about your BikeShare experiment experiences, so please take a few minutes to blog them on ChangeEverything.

ChangeSomething – a different kind of contest
Writing one blog post could earn $1000 for a cause you believe in. Really. Is there a group in your community working on changing something that you believe in? Could they use some cash to help get things done? Enter the contest by writing a blog post on ChangeEverything. read full contest details here.
Local community organizations can also apply to Vancity branches for grants of up to $10,000 for projects that focus on: protecting the environment; helping people to build assets; and/or strengthening communities. For more information on how to apply for a Community Project Grant, contact any local Vancity branch manager or visit www.vancity.com/mycommunity for details. Click here to view the current entries

I had been a vegetarian and even an almost vegan for many years. Until recently. I started 'slipping' and having the occasional steak. When i found this post on ChangeEverything this week and watched the video it made my heart ache and my knees buckle. I will be thinking twice about eating meat again.

Make sure to mark your calendar for Rain, Roots and Rhythm Fundraiser for lost crops in El Lagartillo, Nicaragua at Rhizome Cafe next Thursday, August 23 at 7:30pm - 10:00pm
Excess June rain flooded the staple crops for El Lagartillo, a small, organic subsistence farming community in Nicaragua. This campesino community embodies the principles, ideology and lifestyle of Latin America's people's revolution: cooperation , community, sharing, conservation, music , hope, laughter, health & peace. In solidarity, a slideshow of Lagartillo, other Nicaragua travel adventures and reflections of the history and politics of Nicaragua will raise money to help feed this community through their difficult times.
