This is my 4th year using ChangeEverything.ca to engage our community to collect warm things for the folks living rough in the DTES. This year I focused on socks when I learned how many homeless people get sick from having cold, wet feet for 5 months of the year. I also knew that it having been a financially difficult year for folks, asking for something easy like a pair of socks was much likelier to yield a successful result. I am humbled, moved and filled with appreciation for human generosity that lives within all of us

it was SO much fun. turns out that 4,000 pairs of socks fills up two smart cars and a delica. it is a lot!

I work with street involved youth and have seen some awful cases of foot rot due to wet socks in the winter.
Dry socks are always needed.
