A friend emailed me about this new product today which is apparently designed to squish women's unacceptable and gross fat bits into what is essentially a modern day girdle. I am upset and saddened that me and some of my sister-friends; smart, strong, spiritual, loving women, somehow get sucked into the delusional vortex of the belief that there is something so inherently wrong with our bodies being soft and curvy, that we must spend much money and emotional resources keeping them a secret, sucking them in and squishing them into devices designed to hide them.

My sister, (one of my life heroes by the way) and I were once grocery shopping together. Beside my sad, pale skim milk and low-fat yogurt on the conveyor belt , proudly stood her mayo, full fat cheese and heavy cream for her coffee. Agast (and secretly somewhat jealous), I asked her what she was thinking buying all of that stuff. She looked at me with her beautiful smile and said, "Katie, do you think these curves just come naturally to me? I gotta work for them" She is literally one of the most beautiful, strong women I know inside and out.
I am determined to love my body the way she loves hers.
