Change our Mayor, Elect Gregor Robertson in 2008
It's time to change our mayor. I don't have any major gripe with Sam other than what significant positive contributions has he made? With the converging crises of peak oil and climate change rapidly approaching we need a leader who understands these issues and is prepared to lead Vancouver in a new direction. Without electing a government that fully comprehends how these two issues interact, the citizens of Vancouver are setting themselves up for a future where inequity and injustice are the norm. This is not the future I hope to live in.
Gregor Robertson has proven himself to be an honest, transparent and committed politician dedicated to responsible and responsive government. I believe he has the capacity to engage the business community so that we can collectively build a sustainable economy. With his focus shifting to Vancouver, we have a very realistic in creating a safe, vibrant city that gives everyone an opportunity to rise to their full potential.
You can find our more about Gregor on his websites: MLA Vancouver-Fairview, Gregor for Mayor 08 or join his Facebook Group.
peace

Proven himself....
Proven himself.... how?
Seriously. What has this guy done that justifies saying he has "proven himself to be an honest, transparent and committed politician dedicated to responsible and responsive government"?

I hear Gregor is going to
I hear Gregor is going to continue an American style drug war, I'm a Canadian pot-smoker and I am sick of being singled out, threatened, fined, abused and made to feel as if I am less of a person than other citizens. I pay taxes, own a house, raise kids and I am Canadian wether you like how I intoxicate myself or not. I don't complain about 'your' drinking so don't bother me about 'my' smoking.

Gregor, continue an
Gregor, continue an American-style drug war? Where on earth did you hear that? What an absurd rumour - something tells me you didn't attend any Vision all candidates meetings back in June.
Gregor is a strong supporter of the Four Pillars Drug Strategy, unlike many Tories who feel that the old-style drug war you speak of, with an emphasis on police enforcement and the criminalization of addiction - instead of treatment and harm reduction - is the answer.

I'm so hoping you're right.
I'm so hoping you're right. Over the past couple years, specifically in my experience surrounding the planned whitecaps stadium (most recent iteration included landfill in Burrard Inlet), I have completely lost confidence that our current council (alas, including vision councillors) is not taking almost all of its direction from developers.
I hope Gregor will reorient the Vision party to the ideals you point to and bust free of the developers/VANOC-at-all-costs crowd. If I become convinced of that, he'll have my support, for sure. I'm particularly pleased to see that, in contrast to the 'our hands are tied' stance on homelessness/poverty issues, he's putting that on the table (at least according to his facebook page)
