Save Our Rivers and Yes to BC-STV: A Watershed election
Our rivers and the very future of public power for the benefit of the people and for the people are at risk in this election. The Run of River private power projects (PPP) are a hoax, and a power grab. We must oust the current government on May 12 if we care about these issues.
That's what Rafe Mair and other concerned and committed citizens say. There is a green washing of the PPPs but the truth is told at the site: http://www.saveourrivers.ca/ Read Rafe's article, the reality check about Suzuki and Berman;s comments, Alixandra Morton's article in the Tyee.
Please check it out. Also watch this compelling video: http://saveourrivers.ca/video-library-mainmenu-29/351-rivers...
And read the current Common Grund magazine. It's all there.
And of course, you are all voting YES on BC-STV. It may not be simple or straightforward, but as Rafe said, we must not let perfection stand in the way of improvement! Questions: go to http://www.bc-stv.ca/ Cast your vote for fair and stable government in the future, and the people, not corporations and privatization in this election.

I appreciate your taking the time to comment. I certainly don't want rivers dammed instead of diverted, used wisely and greenly. And indeed, politics makes weird bedfellows, and times change. Rarely is anything simple!
AND: Have you looked into what is happening to BC Hydro in the course of these Private Power Initiatives? The prices they are obligated to pay for the private, run of river power? Are you comfortable with the ultimate privatization of yet another crown corporation, and the creation of power for export, rather than pursuing a policy of conservation? I'm not. To me it looks very much like that's where we're headed...if we carry on in this direction.

Save our rivers.org another
Save our rivers.org another political group built on ideology that casts the coming election as the last chance to save BC rivers by electing anyone else but the current government. The org is also casting Suzuki and Berman (leaders known to focus on improving the environment and less concerned about politics) as villains. The video praises the historical damming of rivers built by WAC Bennet as being in the public interest. So people who support this org would prefer we dam our rivers, versus letting the rivers flow as they currently do!!!! Politics makes for strange bedfellows indeed.
