Preserve Wild Salmon

A RALLY will be held this Wednesday, SEPT. 16 at NOON in front of the DFO offices at Burrard and Pender.

COME and join us this Wednesday. The purpose is to inform the people and the government of the issue of the link between salmon fish farms and declining salmon stocks.

Background information:

If you are feeling frustrated by government and industry inaction despite overwhelming evidence that net-cages are threatening wild salmon and coastal ecosystems, you are not alone. In British Columbia, concerned citizens have created their own movement aimed at forcing change from the ground up, the Wild Salmon Circle (WSC):

The WSC is a group of citizens concerned about the possible extinction of wild salmon stocks in BC. We do not represent any particular NGO, agency, special interest or lobby group. We are BC citizens who want wild salmon to thrive for our children and all future generations.

We're also demanding that Fisheries Minister Gail Shea provide the citizens of BC with an explanation as to why she was in Norway promoting aquaculture, at the expense of taxpayers, when there is overwhelming evidence that fish-farms are contributing to the collapse of wild salmon runs.

No matter where you’re located you can join the Wild Salmon Circle on Facebook www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=125938871793 follow their activities and get inspired to organize your own local actions. The internet knows no bounds… Join up and speak up!
