Protect Metro Vancouver water from sewage overflow
Speak out to say Metro Vancouver should stop discharging storm water and raw sewage into our waterways (Georgia Strait Alliance): "If you’re unhappy that Metro Vancouver still has combined sewage overflows (CSOs) that discharge stormwater and raw sewage into our waterways on heavy rain days or that 50% of the region’s sewage still doesn’t get treated to a standard considered a minimum in the United States and the European Union – now is your time to speak out. http://www.georgiastrait.org/?q=node/730
From April 15 - 28, 2009, the region will be holding consultations to find out what you think this plan should look like. You don’t need to be an engineer or a sewage management expert to offer your thoughts. This is your community – what do you want it to look like 20, 30 or 50 years from now? If healthy oceans, rivers and streams matter to you, let the region know. If you believe that sewage is not waste but a resource that can provide us with new sources of energy – the region needs to know that too."
