Hi,
A friend found this petition on Craigslist, asking the Fed govt. to promote the use of bicycles as transportation. If you agree, please sign and pass it on.

A petition at http://www.gopetition.com/online/10170.html
is now in the "wrap up" stage. Posted in Nov. 06 it asks the Federal Canadian government to promote cycling as a preferred means of transportation. The online version currently has 3100 signatures, while a paper version will probably have about 1000 signatures by the time it is handed off to Olivia Chow to present to Parliament.
If you would like the government to take measures to promote cycling as a climate change solution, please sign, and forward the link to like-minded friends!

I'm thankful that the government is helping out those who take transit (like me), but yes -- where's the tax relief for the bikers?  I suppose this is less verifiable than a monthly transit pass, but the geniuses of this world must be able to figure out some sort of system, right?

How is the Vancity Great Bicyle giveaway going? Has anyone seen any of the bikes that were donated to the Lower Mainland in general?

Just curious as I don't live in Metro Vancouver and was wondering whether they are still out there or have they been converted into drug money via the scrap metal heap, etc.?

I live in Kits and I was out at a BBQ at one of my friend's houses on Sunday night. One of her friends rode one of the Vancity bikes to the party. She was from the UK, just here visiting a friend for a week and had somehow landed one of the orange bikes.
