Update on Carbon and Flying

A quick update: I used a carbon calculator from an offsets website to calculate the carbon footprint from my last trip (see my post - Running Away to Find Home). It turns out I personally emitted just under three tonnes of carbon. As a sidenote - George Monbiot, in his book Heat, says that a sustainable level of CO2 emissions globally would be under 2 tonnes per capita. So this one trip put me over my yearly limit by a long shot.
On another note - I am not really a fan of offsetting. I don't think it is the correct mechanism to fund clean energy projects. I have heard it compared to indulgences by the Roman Catholic Church. I have a post critical of it on my blog here, if you are interested.

Though I have been hearing
Though I have been hearing of some interesting uses for offset dollars lately, such as an innovative social enterprise that help reduce indoor pollution in India, for example.
