The Heart and Mind of Elizabeth May
We at EcoReality were privileged to host Elizabeth May to a potluck before her speaking engagement at Gulf Islands Secondary School.
All I can say is "Wow." Keep an eye on this woman. Charisma, grace, integrity, encyclopedic knowledge, and oh yea, enviro-cred -- what more could you want in a candidate?
If you haven't had an opportunity to hear her speak, please do so. She had answers, and refuses to play the political game. Perhaps this is just the side-benefit of not really having a chance to become Prime Minister, but I prefer to think it is totally genuine, an integral part of Elizabeth.
At one point, someone asked her how they should vote if they thought that Dion might need them to defeat Harper. Elizabeth answered very simply, "I'm not going to ask you to vote Green. I only ask that you vote your conscience." How many politicians are willing to say that in public?
<RANT>I would love to write more, but this is the most Safari-unfriendly blog I know. It keeps refreshing me into a blank preview, and I have to ***THUNK (It just did it)*** page back and re-write the last few words.</RANT>

Thanks for the tip, Kate,
Thanks for the tip, Kate, but please forgive me for being far too busy for that! If I want to write something complicated, I do go to the trouble of copying the whole thing periodically, so I can paste it back in, but having to fire up a separate application is so, so, un-Mac-like! I'm used to things being simple!
(At least you didn't tell me I had to "edit my registry," which is what one webmaster of a badly-behaving website wanted me to do!)
The site looks lovely, but I'll take function over aesthetics any day. Simplify!

I am not affiliated with
I am not affiliated with this site in anyway, but the safari-unfriendly behaviour is likely the result of Apple not fully implementing internet standards than this site itself. The site uses open-source software and opensource software supports internet standards. Currently, Safari 1.x to 2.x doesn't fully implement all internet standards and as a result NO open-source WYSIWIG (What You See Is What You Get) editors work correctly yet.
This is an Apple issue, rather than a changeeverything.ca issue. I have however heard that the new Safari 3 beta does properly support WYSIWYG editors. As an aside, the Firefox browser also works great with changeeverything.ca - I personally don't use Safari very often anymore because of these issues.
Finally, you can try clicking the "Disable rich-text" link at the bottom of the body editing window to disable the WYSIWYG editor, this may clear up the problem.

Jan, thank you for the
Jan,
thank you for the feedback. We are going to look into what could be causing these weird and annoying problems.
When submitting content to any website, I try to make a habit of editing my document in another program where I can save my work. That way if anything goes wrong on the site, all I have to do is copy and paste it again.
