The Blindspot of Capitalism: Seeing it and Changing it Collectively

Try out Change Everything
What Entity Owns all public and private debt?

Imagine their is just one root problem in the world focusing on which will make you come to a possibility that addresses all the symptoms like financial greed, overpopulation, mass poverty, inequality, trashing of human life, human-trafficking, pollution and destruction of habitat, small farmers and farmland, natural diversity, hunger, infant and children mortality, disease, global warming, war, terrorism….on and on.

Are you willing to devote one day or couple of days to really understand it…a view of a non-expert but a practical philosopher who happens to think deeply about life, liberty and pursuit of happiness. Here is your chance…provided your mind is already not full with conventional wisdom, intellectual arguments or polarized dual thinking. It does require whole heart-brain approach and a love of life.

See Life precedes pursuit of liberty and happiness. Life is a profoundly rich, beautiful web of interconnecting relationships and energy at many levels… biological, ecological, physical, mental and spiritual all working in balance and harmony…our body naturally maintains it. In our mind we are polarized and divided. Yet we humans are spending all our lives in pursuit of money than pursuit of precious LIFE…running or progressing backwards it seems.

Now should we not take a moment or long to reflect on what money is, how it is issued, comes into circulation and allocated. See money is the life blood of society and if our blood/sweat/labor that is money contains cancer, would not all human institutions and human mind/brain affected by that? Without much adieu here is my view…may I have your deep attention please. Thanks.

I like very much what is happening at the community level in terms of sustainable communities Network, local living economies, Balle, Flow and many such networks of conscious living and business. However we need to focus on what is the problem with existing Debt-based Usury-based (charging compound interest on fiat money that has no inherent value) and centralized-commercial banking (money is issued as debt/loan to people, businesses and goverment out of thin air by central banks and banking system here and globally). It requires deep thinking how this money system is causing concentration of wealth in few hands and so many dysfunctions under name of free-market and democracy.

We need a big mind-shift on money, which is a collective agreement to use something as a token or medium of exchange. Getting enlightened is the first step and take small steps to share it or discuss it within peaceful learning groups in your community. Learn More here

This seems to be an attack

Written by Charnet

This seems to be an attack on the current state of capitalism.  Sure, it's got it's problems; but it's the only system that affords democracy.  This attack comes at an odd time because the capitalist system is probably working better now than it ever has. It's bringing opportunity to millions of people around the world that had none before.  The same market system that has polluted the earth now seems poised to market the re-greening of industry.  People are implementing personal solutions to their bloated carbon footprint; taking personal responsibility.  No other system can do this with any efficiency.
I followed the link and my first impression was that I was looking into the yawning abyss of a gigantic rabbit hole.
The fact of the matter is that our system is based on choice.  You can choose to do well, or not.  Increasingly, we see a more benevolent society evolving both personally and in the corporate culture.  Corporations, after all, are made up of people.  The better the people are; the better the corporation.  "Corporate Greed" is offered up here as a given.  It's easy to take shots at corporations and the investors who are behind them.  In most cases, those investors are your pension fund, your RRSP mutuals...small people ....it's not "the Donald"
Get it straight with "greed" and "ambition."  Greed is at the expense of others.  Ambition is at the service of others.  My opinion?  Tobacco companies are greedy.  The credit union this blog is supported by is ambitious and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that.
The capitalist, democratic system we have is becoming more gentle, thoughtful and accomodating to those with less opportunity and I, for one, will not abandon it any time soon.

I would encourage you to

I would encourage you to read more and think beyond first impression or quick judgements.

I did not check who supports this blog, was just drawn by the name. Our monetary banking system that finances corporations, governments, people ...many good things also finances military-intelligence-war-think tank corruption complex, is based on greed and usuy and I am not the only one to say so.

I am just showing a compassionate way out of this mess.

I do read a lot of things,

Written by Charnet

I do read a lot of things, but at my advanced age I must carefully budget my time.
I'm sure I could find a nice crust of bread to eat in a dumpster, but when there are so many good things to eat elsewhere it's not worth my time.  I was taught years ago to decide first of all what is "major" in my life.  Then, don't spend major time or major money on minor things.
The point is, change is always powered by the personal philosophy of people.  If you want to change something, you must first change their minds.  My generation was "hippy."  We protested against the "establishment."  Most of us figured out that the best way to change it was to do so from within; so we joined it.  Not all of us kept our ideals and some went over to the dark side.  Some of us hung around and became professional protesters.  But a lot of the openess and willingness tto change today comes from the power brokers spawned by former hippies.
Clearly, the process will continue to evolve and has become global.  The echo boomer generation will make sure of that despite some of the initial extremism.
RE:  Our monetary banking system that finances corporations, governments, people ...many good things also finances military-intelligence-war-think tank corruption complex........
Money does not have a mind of it's own.  It's a mystery why some people embrace the love of money.  It's an age-old good versus evil question.  Could there be good if there was no evil?  Could you win a game if you could not lose?
But the answer is not to attack the money or the system.  The answer is to attack the evil philospophies that some will adopt to obtain money.  That's what greed is, and it's very personal, (not corporate or military).  The best answers are always the simplest ones because they come from the fundamentals.

I think the last comment

I think the last comment missed the point, at least the way i saw it.

I may not agree with the whole article, but the centralized fiat currency most the world has adapted works to centralize wealth. This is true simply by the fact that it is fiat (not backed), and therefore can be increased limitlessly costing inflation.

Wonder why prices are constantly increasing... maybe someone made more money out of thin air, than the GDP grew. Its the magical Tax.

Money, simply technology, can be whatever we agree on. However, keeping closer control on the issuance of currency under the current system could make all the difference.

Cheers

 You wrote your philosophy

"If you want to change anything, you must change their mind".

My philosophy

"In order to change anything I must first change my own mind, attitude and beliefs".

Of course Money does not have a mind of its own. But have you ever deeply thought  "what money is?" "How is it created or issued...how it comes to circulation, how it is allocated?" "by what mechanism wealth and power is concentrated in few hands?"

Greed is Institutionalized and so is scarcity via monetary system designed by a few and not understood by man, including economists and management gurus.

What if everybody wins something from a game...can you imagine a game where nobody has to lose? At least know your fundamentals on money before you respond.

There you go down the rabbit

Written by Gord Dieno (not verified)

There you go down the rabbit hole again. While you're trying to change a monetary system no one truly understands, others will just get on with life.

It's like trying to change the seasons, night and day, the wind etc.

While some examine the roots of the tree, others will simply pick the fruit.

Good luck with that!

There you go down that

While you're trying to change a monetary system that is so complex that no one can comprehend it all, others just get on with life.
It's like trying to change the seasons, night and day, the wind.......
Some will spend years examining the roots of the tree, others will simply get a ladder pick the fruit.  Your choice.
Yeah, I can imagine a game where nobody loses.  I've seen games where nobody loses.  Sports Day at schools.  Because no one can lose, no one can win.  It's pathetic.  Losses are teachers.  Sure, you can carry your failures around with you like a beast of burden, or you can use them as teachers and invest them into your future.
In a good business, there are many win-win scenarios.  But like I said before, it's at the service of others, not at the expense of others.
I get the feeling that you want everyone to share equally in the wealth of the world.  Is that correct?
