Feeding the homeless

Is being charitable still possible while being frugal? I think so.
My children and I volunteer at a shelter or sandwich truck at least once a month but I also like to donate food and money as much as I can.

This weekend I was able to support surrey and downtown's urban mission financially and it felt so great. We attended an auction where all proceeds went to these worthwhile charities. our donations netted $78 and I bidded and won $75 worth of items. All the items I bidded on were food items and so were not wasteful and I will be able to use all of the items!
I was very happy.

Then today I was able to get canned Maple Leaf meats from Shoppers Drug mart for free using coupons. I had 6 $1 coupons and the cans were .99 cents each. All will be donated to the food bank....
Other easy ways... give returnables to youth group bottle drives, donate clothes to charities, and of course volunteer!

i have to tell you i really like your style as its people like me on long term disabilty that always enjoy the ray of hope that people like you bring to my almost always empty food bin.
i always give back to those in need & still do even now. despite it all i love life-all things & all people.
