2010 - looks a lot different from 2009

I lose track of this conversation with myself (and yes, there are a couple of other folks who've read this stuff and commented to me, but mostly it feels very singular). But I do want to leave an update.

As I went into 2009 I faced a dramatically diminished income stream. Somehow, with the help of savings and some investments that finally "arrived," I made it through the year. Not only that, I had a wonderful time doing it!

I learned a lot. A LOT. I wrote a lot. A LOT. I learned to do new things viz my interest in telling and recording stories. I played a lot. I created a lot. I listened a lot. And, I managed to eat, drink, and dance my way through many, many happy days, weeks, and months. 2009 was a great year!

2010 looks different. I'm hoping it'll be a great year too, but it already looks like a much more lucrative year. And so, that means I'll be working more.

I'm going to miss the play time and creative time. But it'll be good to sock some $ away for the next opp I get to explore, change, do new things.

just remember how good it felt to play and create! I am glad you intend to make time for these things, as they are so important.

I do remember. I do! I do!

I do remember. I do! I do! It's what I try to work into all the $ work I do now: make it fun, make it as playful as possible, make it worth doing because it connects to things that are important to me. Which is why I wrote the 'dance and change' thing. Which is why I volunteered to a series of interviews on 'dance and change' - because the dance folks I know are connecting to their play/creative energies. Which is why I volunteered to do the "YVR-COP15 and back again" interviews - because I know there are some interesting (though sometimes very 'sober') folks creating positive changes. It's all fun! Thanks for giving places/reasons to do this stuff ;-)

Wow. Well, that explains a few things... I look forward to seeing what else/more you get into!

(My "hectic" started last September and I expect it may continue at least until August... Oy.)

2009 was a good year as well

Written by Andres F

2009 was a good year as well though we have struggled financial crisis, there are still lots of reasons why it was a good year. But 2010 could be the same as last year? Well, let us see. Anyway, perhaps one of the biggest economic issues that don't get discussed is problems with a wage decrease over the last several decades. Wages for most workers have declined, but CEO compensation hasn't. Now people do deserve reward for effort – but something is wrong with this picture. You see, the thing is that wages overall have increased in dollar amount, but increases in wages (such as minimum wage increases) don't increase entirely relatively to inflation. Several states peg wages to inflation (and dollar amount) but not to dollar value. The costs of health care, energy, and other goods and services have risen above the rate of inflation
