Fair Voting

Having recently watched the great documentary about Ralph Nader "An Unreasonable Man" (http://www.anunreasonableman.com/) I was reminded of the dilemma we face regarding voting on pure conscience versus voting strategically to defeat a party whose policies repulse you. And in a "first past the post system" that dilemma is all too common.

That is why I believe in the single transferable vote system that we nearly acquired in BC about two years ago, and will have another chance to endorse in 2009.

As the US sys has tragically shown us, third parties (and forth, fifth etc.) are voices that are needed to change a stagnant system. But if we fear that we are throwing our vote away, then alternative voices are effectively stifled. Let's change that here!
